HANC Hurricanes Volleyball Team: Win After Win
On November 22, the HANC Hurricanes Volleyball Team traveled to Brooklyn, New York to play against the Yeshiva of Flatbush. Even in the extreme heat of the Flatbush gym, the Hurricanes were able to crush Flatbush 21-15 in the first quarter, 21-9 in the second quarter, and 21-14 in the third quarter.
The HANC team played strategically and benefited greatly from strong communication. The serving was extraordinary and there were a number of spikes that sent the HANC away team into an uproar.
Sophomore Leora Peyser went on a dominant serving run, as we have come to expect from her. In an interview with teammate Lily Diamond, she said that even though the Flatbush gym was extremely hot, the HANC team’s energy was as cool as could be. Both on the court and on the bench, the girls were cheering each other on with encouragement. Lily Diamond also noted that the team’s achdut, unity, and ruach was stronger than ever.
The love and support these players have for each other is a wonder to observe. Not only do they love and support each other, so does their amazing coach, and HANC alumni, Danielle Ben-Hamo 19’. Throughout the game, Ben-Hamo was guiding the team to victory, keeping up the tempo and encouraging the players. She had planned on giving them an inspirational Dvar Torah before the game, but the bus ride to Flatbush took too long. And yet this didn’t stop her, as she still gave the speech only after the game.
So far the HANC girls volleyball team is undefeated with a perfect 4-0 record. Hopefully they can keep this streak going and bring home a championship season.
