Tu’ Bishvat Breakfast

On Monday February 6th, HANC high school invited our wonderful grandparents to campus in order to attend an educational and inspirational shiur about Tu’ Bishvat by Rabbi Slominiki. Many grandparents came to HANC early in the morning as well and enjoyed an additional inspirational HANC minyan with their grandchildren, following which they stayed for a delicious breakfast that boasted fresh bagels, different spreads, coffee, and delicious fruit-flavored smoothies.

Throughout the whole morning Morah Zucker, Tzippy Brenner, and the custodial staff worked hard to ensure the smooth operation of the event. Many HANC highschool students volunteered during their first period to help set up the lovely breakfast too.

It was a true joy for all involved. Throughout the breakfast, families and students enjoyed games such as Wordle and other fun, enriching letter-based activities. The Wordle challenge was especially thrilling: two different grandparents and their grandchild were chosen to guess a word that was related to the holiday. This led to great enjoyment, which transitioned into a holiday-themed Hebrew letter-game. Everyone, participants and spectators alike, enjoyed the confusion, the focus, the determination, the laughter. It was also, perhaps most importantly, a fantastic opportunity for grandparents to spend quality time, in a delightful setting, with their grandchildren, family, and close friends.

Our Tu’ Bishvat morning was absolutely wonderful and a reminder of how important family is as well as the way that HANC as a community itself is a sort of family. I know that I’m not alone in saying that we can’t wait to have it next year too!
