Winter Vacation Interviews
On January 30th, HANC High School’s winter recess came to an end. Throughout the first days of the new semester, students shared their vacation experiences with their peers. HANC Herald Community correspondent and sophomore, Noam Traeger, interviewed students from each grade about their vacations. Here are their answers:
NT: Where did you go during vacation?
Zachary Rosenthal: Israel
Debra Gross: I stayed home most of vacation but some days I did little day trips.
Elana Max: During vacation I visited my grandparents in Raleigh, North Carolina. I also spent time in the city and waited in line at Tkts for cheaper Broadway tickets.
Yishai Kaufman: I was home over vacation.
NT: What was your favorite part of vacation?
Zachary Rosenthal: My favorite part of vacation was getting to visit my family that lives in Israel since we don’t get to see them often.
Debra Gross: My favorite part of vacation was going to the American Dream Mall with my family and doing an escape room.
Elana Max: My favorite part of vacation was when I saw “& Juliet”, a new jukebox musical that’s super Gen Z and really funny because of it.
Yishai Kaufman: My favorite part was watching a movie with friends.
NT: Please describe your vacation in 3 words.
Zachary Rosenthal: Hot, interesting, beautiful
Debra Gross: Fun, relaxing, amazing
Elana Max: My vacation in 3 words would probably be broadway, sleep, and family.
Yishai Kaufman: rejuvenating and relaxing
NT: What would you rate the place/places that you went out of 10 and why?
Zachary Rosenthal: 10/10. Israel is an amazing country. It’s full of things you’d never see in New York and the landscapes are gorgeous.
Debra Gross: The day I went to the American Dream Mall I also saw some friends we haven’t seen in a while so 10/10.
Elana Max: I would give North Carolina a 7 out of 10 of places to visit, but less for Shabbos. It’s really pretty and there’s a lot to do but there isn’t a ton of kosher food and no eruv.
Yishai Kaufman: 10/10 I spent most of my vacation at home, or with friends and just had a lot of fun.
