Model UN 2023

This past Sunday, February 5th, Yeshiva University held its 33rd Annual Model United Nations conference. The conference spanned from that Sunday through Wednesday, and students from a diverse array of schools worldwide gathered at the Armone hotel in Stamford, Connecticut.

Students played the role of delegates tasked with a variety of positions and advocating for their countries’ beliefs on key contemporary global issues. Students prepared thorough research of their countries’ position and policies across a wide range of topics, from nationals security to international diplomacy. The conference, which is a source of great enjoyment as well as enrichment for participants, equips students who attend with knowledge of world affairs, preparation, communication and critical evaluation.

After an extensive two days filled with research, writing, workshopping, practice, and dialogue, the conference concluded with ceremonies and awards. Avi Baruch (Class of 2023) was honored with The Best Delegate award for his committee, one of the conference’s highest honors. Baruch was commended in particular for his intelligent comments and effective work towards advancing his committee’s issues. The entire HANC team was thrilled, and as word spread through school in Uniondale, peers and faculty alike applauded Baruch for his success and congratulated him on this remarkable accomplishment.

Although Baruch was the only award winner, all participants report that they relished the experience, despite its rigor, and came away having gained experience in problem solving, world affairs, and many other intellectual focal points that were taught and encouraged during the conference.
